And don't forget parasailing, one of the more unusual water-oriented thrills Lake Tahoe has to offer. Described as a cross between hang gliding and parachuting, parasailing involves the use of a boat attached by a long line to a small parachute. Parasailers, either alone or in tandem, are lifted to a height of about 100 feet above the water at speeds of up to 15 mph before landing safely on shore or on a platform.
