Lake Tahoe Big Ol Fishin Derby

WHAT: The 5th Annual Big Ol’ Fishing Derby at Historic Camp Richardson Resort is a perennial favorite of Labor Day Lake Tahoe. To explore the depths of the best fishing holes, participants may either fish from their own boats or hire one of Lake Tahoe’s experienced professional guides. Anglers generally motor to fishing spots including Meeks Bay, Stateline Point and Rubicon.
WHERE: All judging and awards ceremonies will take place at the Historic Camp Richardson Resort Marina.
WHEN: Saturday, August 30 and Sunday, August 31, 2002
Free registration is from 6:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. each day
The daily fish weigh-ins are at 2:00 p.m.
The awards ceremonies will be at approximately 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, August 31.
REGISTRATION: Entry into the contest is free. Registration is available in person at Historic Camp Richardson Resort Marina or by calling 530/542-6570.
PRIZES: The $1,000 Cash Grand Prize will be awarded for the largest Mackinaw caught. Those left reminiscing about the one that got away will vie for an additional $2,000 in prizes including lodging, food and other Lake Tahoe recreational activities. Caught off Sugar Pine Point in 1977, the record catch at Lake Tahoe weighed nearly 38 pounds.
