The Sierra Front Recreation Coalition's mission is to promote, develop and provide access to world-class outdoor recreation opportunities and resource stewardship to meet the increasing demand and diverse interests of the growing visitor and local populations along the Central Sierra Front. The Coalition collaborates with Federal, State and local agencies, private businesses, non-profit trails organizations, community groups and individuals who share this common goal.
Since its inception, the Sierra Front Recreation Coalition has produced a map of recreation opportunities in the region: Lake Tahoe and Beyond the Rim: 101 Recreation Opportunities, hosted trail volunteer meetings, and supported member's efforts to expand and enrich our recreational amenities. SFRC is pleased to be working with the Tahoe Rim Trail Association on the development of the Reno to Rim Trail project, which will ultimately ensure connectivity through 53,000 acres of National Forest land adjoining the Truckee River corridor which stretches across the Mt. Rose Wilderness and east into Reno. Sierra Front is documenting 50 great local recreational activities which will be on available on their newly enhanced web site this year (sierrafront.org), as well as a database and calendar feature which will provide for greater regional coordination in matching trail building projects with willing volunteers.
